13 bean chili because I’m still on a mission to make bean chili that is actually good. I thought potato cakes with corn mixed in would be a nice experiment. We would normally have cornbread or maybe chips. Dizzle requested nachos. I started craving a grapes & mustard sauce dish when the little one had […]
Masaman curry because it looks delicious, and I’ve never made a curry dish that included potatoes. Calzones because this week’s tofu project is making “ricotta”. Risotto because it’s been awhile. Green pea puree inspired by a new Jamie Oliver cookbook. Butternut & sundried tomatoes because I really love that combo. Not exactly sure if it […]
Somehow I thought I could make it through the week without a grocery store run. Then we ran out of coffee. Then I didn’t have black eyed peas for hoppin’ john (AGAIN). Then we were running low on fruit and veg for lunches. Oh well. Hoping to get back on a better routine.
Looks like this weekend will be Italian, and the rest of the week is totally Thai! I’ve made several different meat/mushroom blends of bolognese, but this is my first attempt at 100% mushroom. Carbonara because there is bacon in the freezer from the holidays, and someone has to eat it. 🙂 (and it’s one of […]
Vegetables to chop and beans soaking for red beans and rice. Bulgar wheat soaking for tabbouleh, again, because Dizzle is hooked on it at the moment. Bread rising.
I bought eggplant thinking I wanted to try an eggplant calzone, but babaganoush sounds so much better right now, and the 2yo loves it too. Bonus! Hoppin’ John is in honor of Mardi Gras tomorrow. Laissez les bontemps roulez! (might have to add a hurricane to the evening) Tomato soup because I have leftover pizza […]
Busy day at the homestead. Quick grocery run to replenish supplies after our weekend road trip. Plans today for vegetable stock, roasted eggplant, cook and toast garbanzos, bake sweet potatoes, and make dinner (babaganoush, toasted garbanzos, and spinach bread sticks).
Pizza, as usual Super Bowl food with mashed black beans, guacamole (if the avocados are nice!), and homemade salsa with Way Better chips. The mushroom stew will be a veg version of beef stew. Black eyed pea salad is a dish I like in the summer. This will be a warm version with quinoa added. […]
Beans and gumbo in honor of my parents who are visiting for a couple days next week. Totally random BLT just because I have an odd craving. Tabbouleh because it sounds so yummy. Not sure I’ve ever made it, only had it in restaurants. We’re trying to incorporate more whole grains. We even have tentative […]
